Located on a privately owned half kilometre section of coastline in Dunan on the east coast of the Isle of Skye.

We’re located just off the A87, 11.5 miles from the Skye Bridge and 20 miles from Portree – an ideal spot from which to explore the Isle of Skye and the Scottish Highlands.

Broadford, the second largest village on the island is 4.5 miles away.  There are plenty of amenities including a Co-Op supermarket with 24 hour petrol station, pharmacy, Doctor’s surgery, post office and bank as well as a selection of cafes, restaurants, bars, take-aways and gift shops.

Top Attractions

The Tin Sheds are well placed to visit the top attractions on the Isle of Skye.

The Fairy Pools, The Old Man of Storr, The Fairy Glen, The Quiraing, Armadale Castle & Gardens, Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle & Gardens…all within a short drive.


The Isle of Skye is home to a vast array of wildlife and seabirds.  It’s a great place to spot otters, grey seals, dolphins and minke whales and birds of prey including sea eagles.  From The Tin Sheds, you can often see otters and seals hunting and fishing along the shoreline – bring binoculars if you have them!

Boat tours leave from Portree, Carbost and other points around the island and are a great way to see seals, whales and dolphins up close.

Food & Drink

The Isle of Skye boasts an enviable natural larder including some of the best seafood in Scotland – make sure you try some langoustines, lobster or scallops when you visit.

There are excellent coffee shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes, including the award-winning Loch Bay Restaurant and The Three Chimneys.

A tour of the famous Talisker whisky distillery in Carbost is a must for those who enjoy a dram, and there are lots of locally produced craft beers and gins to try and enjoy while sitting on the deck at The Tin Sheds and enjoying the view!
